Peace opens new chapter for Armenia, Azerbaijan, says Costa

European Council President António Costa stated that the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan has opened new opportunities for the wider region. He emphasized that progress in the peace process is crucial for the full development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, which connects Asia and Europe via the Black Sea.

“Peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan also opens up new opportunities. It creates major prospects for the full development of the Trans-Caspian route, which links Asia and Europe and leads to the Black Sea,” Costa said, as reported by Auroranews.am.

He also underlined Kazakhstan’s key role in ensuring Europe’s economic security. According to Costa, the European Union continues to invest heavily in renewable energy as well as in diversifying traditional energy supply routes.
