Armenia aims to boost U.S. investments, exports

Armenia's Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, speaking at a meeting with members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham) and business representatives, underscored the importance of increasing U.S. capital and brand presence in the Armenian market.

“One of our top priorities is expanding the presence of American capital and brands in Armenia, increasing U.S. investments, and boosting exports from Armenia to the United States. This is a key direction in our agenda,” Papoyan stated, according to Auroranews.am .

He presented the progress of Armenia’s economic policy implementation, highlighting government-set priorities and trends in macroeconomic indicators. Papoyan outlined current directions in economic development, including sectoral diversification, improvements in the investment and business environment, the formation of industrial zones, and initiatives aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of local products.

The minister also discussed the TRIPP program and the ongoing work around the Crossroads of Peace concept.

In Washington, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and U.S. President Donald Trump officially agreed on launching the Trump Route.

“The corridor will allow Azerbaijan access to Nakhchivan while fully respecting Armenia’s sovereignty. Armenia is establishing a unique partnership with the U.S. to develop the route, which may be extended for up to 99 years, with an additional 99-year extension promised. Significant infrastructure development is expected, with American companies eager to enter the region and invest heavily, bringing economic benefits to all three countries,” Trump stated.

On September 11, Pashinyan stated that Armenia has not leased land to the U.S. for 99 years, but rather granted development rights.
