In the fifth round of the UEFA Conference League, Armenian champion and cup holder Noah earned a hard-fought 2–1 comeback win over Polish vice-champion Legia, virtually securing a place in the playoffs.
The match, held at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium, saw Legia take an early lead in the third minute through Danish striker Milleta Rajović, who capitalized on miscommunication between Noah’s defender and goalkeeper (video available). Both teams had chances to score in the first half, but no further goals were recorded, reports Factor.am.
The second half saw a more determined Noah. In the 57th minute, Brazilian forward Matheus Ayache equalized for the home side.
Noah continued to build momentum and took the lead in the 84th minute. Bosnian striker Nardin Mulahusejnović netted the winning goal. Notably, he had also assisted Ayache’s earlier goal. Mulahusejnović has been in outstanding form, scoring in five consecutive matches in the tournament.
Armenian national team midfielder Vahan Bichakhchyan, who plays for Legia, entered the pitch as a substitute in the 82nd minute.
Following this round, Noah has collected 8 points and is ranked 13th after five rounds. Legia sits in 30th place with 3 points. The top 24 teams qualify for the Conference League playoffs.
In earlier matches, Noah defeated Croatia’s Rijeka (1–0), drew with Romania’s Universitatea Craiova (1–1) and Scotland’s Aberdeen (1–1), and suffered a single defeat to Czech Cup winner Sigma (1–2).
