Armenia may import fuel from Azerbaijan, deputy PM says

Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan has confirmed that during recent talks in Gabala, he and his Azerbaijani counterpart Shahin Mustafayev discussed the possibility of exporting oil and oil products from Azerbaijan to Armenia.

Asked whether Yerevan and Baku had already reached an agreement on fuel imports, Grigoryan told RFE/RL: “Yes, discussions have taken place, and there are possibilities for cooperation.”

He added that any further developments regarding fuel would depend on private exporters and importers, and any deals would be made on market terms.

Grigoryan did not specify what other trade sectors are being discussed between the two countries, saying only that “talks on other goods are ongoing.”

Earlier, Hikmet Hajiyev, foreign policy advisor to the President of Azerbaijan, said that alongside the border delimitation process, the deputy prime ministers were also discussing certain areas of mutual trade, including Azerbaijani oil and oil product exports to Armenia.
