Aram I discusses situation in Armenia with protestant leader

On December 18, Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia met with Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian, acting president of the Union of Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Middle East and president of Haigazian University, to discuss the situation in Armenia.

The discussion also covered the development of interchurch relations and various matters related to Lebanon.

*On the same day, the ten bishops who had met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and called for the resignation of Catholicos Karekin II issued a statement in Etchmiadzin before quickly departing. Meanwhile, a church service was being held inside the Cathedral with the Catholicos in attendance.

Catholicos Karekin II stated, “Another attempt was made today to attack Holy Etchmiadzin, sadly, also involving some of our own clergy. Yet the faithful children of our people remain steadfast and fearless. The noise raised in the Church can never disrupt our mission and plans, which are devoted to the radiance of our Church and the building of our nation.”*
