Azerbaijani fuel enters Armenia via Georgia

Armenia’s Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan announced via Facebook that a shipment of Azerbaijani-origin A95 gasoline, totaling 1,300 tons, is currently crossing the Armenia-Georgia border at the Ayrum station.

“This moment, 22 railcars carrying 1,300 tons of Azerbaijani A95 gasoline are crossing the Armenia-Georgia border via Ayrum, having arrived by rail from Azerbaijan through Georgia.

This is likely the first trade and economic transaction between Armenia and Azerbaijan not only after the establishment of peace, but also since Armenia's independence,” Papoyan wrote.

*Azerbaijani media previously reported that the first batch of fuel would be shipped from Azerbaijan to Armenia on December 18. The delivery includes 22 railcars filled with A95 gasoline produced by Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, following agreements made during a November 28 meeting in Gabala between Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has welcomed the shipment of fuel from Azerbaijan to Armenia.*
