Pashinyan praises Aliyev at EAEU summit

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking at the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in St. Petersburg, expressed his "appreciation to the President of Azerbaijan" and emphasized that "creating conditions for the launch of bilateral trade between Armenia and Azerbaijan could be seen as one of the primary achievements in establishing peace."

Pashinyan noted that the recent positive and constructive developments have opened "new opportunities for all countries in the region."

“Let me highlight the prospects of developing cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics based on the principles of reciprocity, equality, sovereignty, and national jurisdiction.

In this context, I would like to stress that the favorable and constructive changes taking place are creating new opportunities for all countries of the broader region, contributing to economic stability and the expansion of regional connectivity.

In this regard, I express my appreciation to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the decision to allow the transit of goods to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory, as well as for creating the conditions for launching bilateral trade. This is one of the first significant achievements toward establishing peace and stability in the region,” the PM said.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan welcomed the fact that a train carrying petroleum products from Azerbaijan arrived in Armenia. Azerbaijani media had reported that the first shipment of fuel would be sent to Armenia on December 18. It was noted that following the agreement reached during the November 28 meeting in Gabala between Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, 22 wagons filled with AI-95 gasoline produced by the state oil company SOCAR would be delivered to Armenia. The train has already arrived.

Edmon Marukyan, leader of the "Bright Armenia" party, commented on the import of fuel from Azerbaijan, writing on his Facebook page that “by buying fuel from Baku, Armenia is directly financing Azerbaijan’s armed forces.”
