Armenia’s ambassador to the United States, Narek Mkrtchyan, met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, the Armenian Embassy reports.
The meeting took place during an event organized for newly appointed ambassadors. During the conversation, Ambassador Mkrtchyan thanked President Trump for his consistent efforts aimed at establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as for the historic agreement reached and documents signed at the White House on August 8. In response, President Trump congratulated the Armenian people, emphasizing that they deserve lasting peace, and reaffirmed his unconditional support for peace-oriented processes.
Trump also specifically highlighted the leadership role of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his significant contribution to the emerging peace process.
The U.S. president additionally conveyed a gift with a personal inscription to Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan as a symbol of high appreciation.
On August 8, a trilateral meeting was held at the White House between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which a joint Declaration on the outcomes of the Washington meeting was signed.
In Washington, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States, initialed the agreement “On Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
