Baku, Tbilisi agree on fuel transit rates to Armenia

On December 29, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili discussed regional trade and transport links during a phone conversation.

The ministers expressed satisfaction over reaching an agreement on the transit tariff for Azerbaijani oil products exported to Armenia via Georgian territory, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation in this direction, APA reported.

Bayramov thanked Georgian authorities for swiftly resolving the issue.

Both sides positively assessed the progress made and underscored the need to deepen bilateral cooperation.

The ministers also reviewed the current state and future prospects of strategic and friendly relations between their countries.

Earlier, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan commented on the Azerbaijani fuel imports, saying: “Purchasing the fuel, as I understand, is very beneficial for Armenian citizens. I saw calls for a boycott, but also heard there were queues for this fuel.”

Asked why Azerbaijan is offering cheap fuel to Armenia, Mirzoyan replied: “Because peace has been established, cooperation must take shape, and Azerbaijani and Turkish cargo must pass through our territory, just as we must pass through theirs.”

On December 19, a train carrying 22 wagons of gasoline from Azerbaijan’s SOCAR company entered Armenia.
