German MFA supports deepening Armenia-Azerbaijan trade

Germany’s Federal Foreign Office has welcomed the second shipment of Azerbaijani oil to Armenia, describing it as a significant step toward the normalization of trade relations in the region.

The announcement was made on X by the Directorate for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia at the German Foreign Ministry, according to Armenpress.

“Yesterday, another batch of oil was dispatched from Azerbaijan to Armenia — the second shipment in less than a month. It is encouraging to see important steps being taken toward the normalization of trade relations in the region,” the statement reads.

Previously, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan commented on the issue of importing Azerbaijani fuel, stating: “As far as I understand, the acquisition of gasoline is very beneficial for Armenian citizens. I saw boycott calls, but I also learned that there are queues for this gasoline.”

When asked why Azerbaijan is supplying Armenia with cheap fuel, Mirzoyan responded: “Because peace is established and cooperation must be formed. Azerbaijani and Turkish cargo must transit through our territory, and we must also pass through theirs.”

On December 19, a train carrying 22 wagons of gasoline from Azerbaijan’s Socar company entered Armenia.
