The United States has announced a new 25% tariff on any country conducting business with Iran, President Donald Trump said in a post on the Truth Social platform.
“Effective immediately, any country engaging in transactions with Iran will pay a 25% tariff on all deals made with the United States. This decision is final and non-negotiable. Thank you for your attention to this matter,” wrote the U.S. President.
Armenia’s annual trade turnover with Iran reaches approximately $1 billion, according to Factor.am .
Imports from Iran to Armenia include iron and steel, natural gas, petroleum products, plastic, and construction materials. In return, Armenia exports electricity, mineral resources, food products, machinery, and equipment to Iran.
According to CNN, Trump’s tariff decision is expected to significantly affect China, a major trading partner of both Iran and the U.S. Other key partners of Iran include India, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey.
