Blackouts in Yerevan prompt stricter energy oversight

Romános Petrosyan, interim manager of the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA), announced on Facebook that stricter oversight has been mandated for all distribution substations. This order was issued to all responsible units and branch directors within the company.

During the New Year period, some addresses in Yerevan experienced power outages caused by a fire at a substation and its aftermath.

Prior to New Year’s Eve, numerous addresses in Yerevan’s Erebuni district were left without electricity for more than 36 hours. The fire occurred on December 30 at the “Vardashen” 110/35/6 kV substation. Electricity supply has since been fully restored in all affected areas.
