ARF to run in 2026 elections in alliance

Ishkhan Saghatelyan, MP from the Hayastan parliamentary faction and representative of the ARF Supreme Body in Armenia, announced that the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) will participate in the 2026 parliamentary elections, preferring an alliance-based format.

“It was decided to authorize the ARF Supreme Body to engage in active pre-election negotiations on the possible format of an alliance, ensuring a significant ARF role and the reflection of its positions on key issues,” Saghatelyan stated, according to Radar Armenia.

He said discussions will begin to finalize the format of the alliance.

“Naturally, valuing the activity of the current Hayastan alliance, we will first start talks with our existing partners. Our intention is clear: we have the will, the capability, and the ambition to preserve, expand, and make this alliance more influential,” he said.

When asked whether former president Robert Kocharyan would lead the alliance, Saghatelyan responded: “There is no decision on that yet. The ARF has decided to participate and to do so in an alliance format. Discussions, consultations, and negotiations need to take place to reach a conclusion. Final decisions on all these matters will be made through that process,” he said.

He added that no prior discussions had been held on this matter since no decision existed until now.

Saghatelyan emphasized that to remove Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from power, they are willing to cooperate with other political forces.

“If circumstances arise where removing this government depends on cooperation with another force, we will collaborate with genuine opposition forces to prevent the current government’s reproduction. Alliances and conditions will be determined based on election results,” he told Aysor.am.

Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 2026.
