Defense Ministry denies offering money to military clergy

The Ministry of Defense of Armenia has denied allegations that financial aid was promised to clergy serving in the armed forces. The ministry's spokesperson Aram Torosyan addressed the issue in a brief statement.

“This does not correspond to reality,” Torosyan wrote.

Earlier, Father Hovhannes Torgomyan raised concerns on Facebook, alleging that army chaplains were being drawn—through various methods—into what he described as a “nation-destroying, anti-church, anti-state, fake reformist movement and agenda.”

In response, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin condemned the reported pressure on military clergy, calling such actions unequivocally unacceptable.
