During a press briefing, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that there should be no other stakeholders in the TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) initiative.
“My position is that there should be no other shareholders in TRIPP,” he said, while noting that TRIPP connects to other infrastructure projects, reports Auroranews.am.
“TRIPP connects to other infrastructure. It’s not that all roads and railways in Armenia and globally are part of TRIPP. Others talk about the Trans-Caspian railway — it includes numerous railroads, gas pipelines, oil pipelines, electricity exports, and production. Various investors can take part in those infrastructures,” Pashinyan added.
He also addressed cooperation with Russia, urging Moscow to urgently restore the railway sections of Akhuryan, Yeraskh, and Ijevan.
“At this stage, we ask our Russian partners to urgently restore the Akhuryan and Yeraskh sections, and also the railway infrastructure in Ijevan. Please note that TRIPP is an investment project — very important and strategic — but it’s an Armenia-U.S. initiative. However, many stakeholders will have the opportunity to benefit and participate in using the opportunities it creates across various sectors,” the Prime Minister said.
Earlier, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed a document in Washington outlining cooperation within the TRIPP framework. The document clarifies that TRIPP does not create binding legal obligations for either Armenia or the United States.
