Several officials from the State Revenue Committee of Armenia (SRC) have been detained, the country’s Anti-Corruption Committee announced, according to Sputnik Armenia.
The arrests followed operational and investigative measures conducted by the committee, which resulted in a criminal proceeding being initiated.
“Five individuals, including senior officials from Armenia’s State Revenue Committee, have been detained within the scope of a criminal case launched based on information obtained during investigative actions,” the committee said.
According to the Anti-Corruption Committee, the individuals are suspected of group abuse of state authority.
Due to the confidentiality of the preliminary investigation, the committee refrained from disclosing further details.
