Armenia committed to returning all captives, Simonyan says

Speaking to reporters in Parliament, Speaker Alen Simonyan expressed confidence that all Armenian captives held in Azerbaijan will return home, calling it “a matter of time.”

He acknowledged that the process is often invisible to the public but emphasized that negotiations and efforts are continuous. Referring to the recent return of four Armenian captives on January 14, Simonyan described it as a result of this ongoing work.

“We talk about this more than any other topic,” he said. “It’s not just about captives; we are constantly discussing the missing as well. This process will be complete only when there are no more unanswered questions and none of our compatriots remain detained. For us, there’s no difference, and everyone must return, and I am certain they will.”

He stressed that the state’s position is clear: all captives must return to Armenia regardless of circumstances.

On January 14, Azerbaijan handed over four Armenian captives — Gevorg Sujyan, Davit Davtyan, Vicken Euljeckjian, and Vagif Khachatryan — to Armenia at the Hakari bridge.
