The United States Department of State has suspended the issuance of immigrant visas to citizens of Armenia and 74 other countries starting January 21. The U.S. Embassy in Armenia had previously announced this measure.
According to a message posted on social media platform X, “The State Department is halting the issuance of immigrant entry visas for 75 countries whose migrants excessively burden the U.S. social welfare system.”
The restriction applies exclusively to immigrant visas.
The measure affects not only citizens of Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Russia, but also those from Iran, Iraq, Brazil, Egypt, Thailand, and others.
