Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, during a parliament government Q&A, responded to criticism by former FM Vardan Oskanyan on allocating 74 % of TRIPP to the U.S., asserting that under Oskanyan’s tenure five state enterprises were transferred 100 % to another country, not 74 %.
Mirzoyan noted that during Oskanyan’s period in office, Armenia fully ceded several assets to a foreign state. The last 20 % of HayRusGazArd was transferred in February 2013, completing a full 100 % handover. A gas pipeline built for Iranian gas supply had half of its capacity given to that same state for a year, and the rest also passed to that state.
The fifth block of the Hrazdan Thermal Power Plant was handed over 100 %, not 74 %, to another state. Likewise, the power company was transferred entirely to Inter RAO. “Now who is pitiable in this story?” Mirzoyan asked.
On remarks by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claiming arrests over political views in Armenia, Mirzoyan said this is incorrect: Armenia does not criminally prosecute political activity, and commenting on such matters would be direct interference in Armenia’s internal affairs. He urged focusing on respective domestic issues.
Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington affirmed a joint Armenia‑U.S. cooperation document under the “Trump Road for International Peace and Prosperity” TRIPP initiative. The published TRIPP document outlines the initiative’s launch procedures and does not create legal obligations for Armenia or the U.S.
