For the sixth time in the past eight days, a Tehran–Yerevan flight has been canceled, according to the online schedule of Zvartnots International Airport.
The latest cancellation involved a Caspian Airlines flight scheduled to arrive in Yerevan at 18:40 on January 22. The flight did not take place, as reported by Sputnik Armenia.
This marks the third canceled Caspian Airlines flight during the same period, following previous cancellations on January 14 and 19. Other airlines have also canceled Tehran–Yerevan routes recently, including Fly Kish (January 20), Armenian Airlines (January 21), and Qeshm Air (January 19).
No official reason has been provided for the disruptions. However, they are believed to be linked to ongoing internet outages in Iran.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has launched a broad operation to arrest alleged protest leaders, according to local media. The arrests reportedly took place simultaneously in four provinces—Rafsanjan, Semnan, Sirjan, and Yazd. Iranian authorities have stated that at least 5,000 people have died during recent protests. A government representative, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity, claimed around 500 security personnel were among the dead, blaming “terrorists and armed insurgents” for the deaths of innocent Iranians.
