Armenian citizens deported from U.S. arrive in Yerevan

A group of Armenian citizens deported from the United States arrived in Armenia aboard a Boeing 767-300. Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the information to Sputnik Armenia but did not disclose the number of deportees.

“These individuals were forcibly returned to Armenia. Currently, work is underway to determine their legal status and complete documentation,” the ministry said.

No further details were provided by the ministry.

According to preliminary reports, the aircraft departed from the U.S., made a stopover in Bucharest, and then landed in Yerevan.

After arriving in Armenia, the same plane reportedly transported more than 40 deported individuals to Uzbekistan.

U.S. President Donald Trump had previously announced plans for a major operation to deport illegal immigrants. Last week, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem stated that 3 million migrants had been deported, with 2.2 million leaving voluntarily under a “self-deportation” program.
