On February 2, Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan met with István Jakab, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary.
The two discussed Armenia–EU relations, the ongoing peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and ways to strengthen interparliamentary cooperation.
Simonyan expressed appreciation for Jakab’s visit, underscoring its importance for the development of Armenia–Hungary relations.
In turn, István Jakab thanked Simonyan for the warm reception and noted that there is strong potential to further develop bilateral ties.
On August 8, a trilateral summit was held at the White House between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. A joint declaration was signed, summarizing the outcomes of the meeting.
During the same visit, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov pre-signed the “Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan” in the presence of both countries' leaders and U.S. officials.
