Vagif Khachatryan, who was returned from Azerbaijani captivity on January 14 and underwent heart surgery, has been discharged from the hospital, according to his daughter Vera Khachatryan.
She stated that her father was discharged on January 30 and is now at home, Auroranews.am reports.
“He is currently in the post-surgery recovery phase. He can talk and interact with us, but he’s not doing very well,” said Khachatryan.
On January 14, Azerbaijan handed over Davit Davtyan, Gevorg Sujyan, Vicken Euljeckjian, and Vagif Khachatryan to Armenia. Vagif Khachatryan had been captured in July 2023 near the Hakari bridge while traveling from Artsakh to Armenia for medical treatment, accompanied by the International Committee of the Red Cross. In late December 2025, it was reported that his health had worsened in a Baku prison, leading to his transfer to a hospital.
