Arman Tatoyan, Armenia’s former Human Rights Defender and head of the Wings of Unity political initiative, announced via Facebook that he is currently on an international visit, with important meetings scheduled.
He emphasized that at a time when Armenian authorities are trying to hide existing problems and pretend they don’t exist, the country urgently needs international visibility.
“As someone who has devoted his life to human rights, I cannot and will not stay silent,” he wrote.
Tatoyan shared that he has important meetings planned in Paris, after which he will travel across the Atlantic to the United States, where he is scheduled to hold meetings and deliver lectures at top universities, including Yale, Columbia, and the University of Pennsylvania, his alma mater, where he was recognized as one of the top graduates of its law school.
His lecture topics will include international law, accountability for war crimes, and the protection of human rights, “everything I have dedicated my life to,” he noted.
Tatoyan added that these same issues were raised in a letter he addressed to former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.
The letter highlights crimes committed by Azerbaijan against Armenia and Artsakh, the plight of occupied territories, forcibly displaced persons, victims of enforced disappearances, and Armenian prisoners and hostages who, he stressed, must be returned home.
