France ready to support Armenia in hosting COP17

During his working visit to Manchester, Armenia’s Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan met with France’s Ambassador for the Environment Barbara Pompili. Their meeting focused on preparations for the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, Matevosyan announced on Facebook.

Pompili reaffirmed that France is ready to provide full support for the high-level organization and preparation of COP17, including both technical and organizational assistance, as well as help in negotiations with international partners.

The two officials also discussed ongoing cooperation, particularly efforts with the International Office for Water, funded by the European Union since 2016, and collaboration between Armenia’s Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center and Météo-France and Météo-France International.

“Concluding the meeting, I reaffirmed our readiness to deepen cooperation with the French side and make COP17 a key platform for advancing Armenia’s international engagement and biodiversity protection agenda,” the minister’s post read.
