Armenia’s Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan announced that the new draft of the Constitution will be completed by March, and emphasized the need to launch a large-scale public awareness campaign.
According to Galyan, many provisions have already been voted on and approved by the constitutional reform council, and the government now has a responsibility to ensure citizens are informed, 1lurer.am reports.
“The Constitution can only be adopted through a referendum. That means the final word belongs to the people, who will have the opportunity to freely express their will, either in favor or against the new text, during the vote,” she said.
In 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that after the 2026 elections, Armenia should adopt a new Constitution, calling it a purely internal matter. Azerbaijan has repeatedly declared that Armenia must amend its Constitution.
