MP Tigran Abrahamyan from the "I Have Honor" parliamentary faction stated on Facebook that while Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the 2026 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi, verdicts are being handed down in Baku against 16 Armenian captives.
"Amid the celebration of Aliyev-Pashinyan’s fraternal relations, sentencing of 16 Armenians will take place in Baku today," he wrote.
Abrahamyan reminded that the Armenians illegally held hostage are being subjected to sham trials built on false accusations, including war crimes and genocide charges, which effectively target the Republic of Armenia.
"This means that beyond the fate of these individuals, a case has been 'crafted' against the Republic of Armenia itself. Regardless of any political resolution, this will remain on file and be used against Armenia when deemed necessary," Abrahamyan warned.
Earlier, Azerbaijani media reported that the trial of Armenian captives would continue in Baku on February 5.
