Military academy graduates to receive housing support

Servicemen from the officer corps will be able to purchase an apartment or house with full financial support from the state budget, gaining full ownership rights. The loan, down payment, principal, and interest will all be fully covered by the Ministry of Defense using public funds. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Defense Hrachya Sargsyan during a Cabinet meeting.

He presented a draft resolution titled “Targeted mortgage program and terms for officers who have graduated from a military institution and are appointed to officer positions within the Ministry of Defense or the Border Troops of the National Security Service (NSS) to purchase housing with state support,” as reported by 1lurer.am .

Under the plan, certificates will be issued to citizens who are accepted into military institutions, complete their studies, and are then assigned officer roles in the Defense Ministry or NSS Border Troops.

"Citizens who enter and graduate from a military institution and are appointed to serve in the Ministry of Defense or NSS Border Troops will be issued a certificate allowing them to choose an apartment or house on the primary or secondary market. The property will be granted with ownership rights, on the condition that the individual serves for at least 20 years in the specified institutions,” said Sargsyan.

The amount available under the certificate will be calculated based on the current market price of an 80-square-meter property in Yerevan. At present, that value is set at 35 million AMD. However, purchases may also be made outside the capital, in regional areas.

According to the deputy minister, the program was already in effect but has now been updated with more flexible and beneficial terms. Previously, the Defense Ministry held competitive tenders involving developers.

Under the new terms, servicemen can independently select and purchase a property of their choice with state support.

A previous restriction requiring properties to be located only in Yerevan has also been removed. Now, the state directly provides 35 million AMD, and servicemen may use this amount to acquire property anywhere in Armenia, depending on the location and price they prefer.
