Henrikh Mkhitaryan may extend Inter stay

Italian club Inter is weighing the possibility of continuing its partnership with former Armenia national team captain Henrikh Mkhitaryan by offering him a new contract, Factor.am reports, citing Calciomercato.

The 37-year-old midfielder is one of five Inter players whose contracts expire at the end of the current season. Defenders Stefan de Vrij, Francesco Acerbi, Matteo Darmian, and goalkeeper Yann Sommer are all expected to leave the Milan club in the summer.

Mkhitaryan’s case stands apart, however, as head coach Cristian Chivu continues to show strong trust in the Armenian playmaker. The club is reportedly discussing the option of offering him a short-term deal.

The all-time top scorer of the Armenian national team joined Inter in 2022. Since then, he has won the Serie A title, the Italian Cup, and the Super Cup, and played in two Champions League finals.

This season, Mkhitaryan has played in 23 matches, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

During his career, Mkhitaryan has played for FC Pyunik (2006–2009), Metalurh Donetsk (2009–2010), Shakhtar Donetsk (2010–2013), Borussia Dortmund (2013–2016), Manchester United (2016–2018), Arsenal (2018–2019), and Roma (2019–2022).
