Mane Tandilyan, head of the Country to Live party, responded on Facebook to the recent verdicts handed down to captured political and military leaders from Artsakh. She stated that these rulings have no legal force and are politically motivated actions targeting Armenia and Artsakh.
She emphasized the need for immediate intervention from both Armenian authorities and the international community, demanding clear positions.
“The Baku court has announced the so-called verdicts against the captured military-political leadership of Artsakh. This was clearly a sham trial in which all rights of our compatriots were violated. It has no legal basis and serves purely political manipulation aimed at Armenia and Artsakh,” she wrote.
Tandilyan stressed that securing the release of the detainees must become a top political and legal priority. “These fake trials are illegitimate and will never gain legitimacy. But they damage the prospects for peaceful coexistence between peoples. Until the last Armenian captive is returned from Azerbaijani custody, this issue will remain on both my political and personal agenda,” her statement concluded.
Former Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan has been sentenced to life imprisonment. The same sentence was handed down to former Defense Army Commander Levon Mnatsakanyan, his former first deputy Davit Manukyan, former Foreign Minister Davit Babayan, and Parliament Speaker Davit Ishkhanyan. Former presidents Arkadi Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan received 20-year prison terms. Madat Babayan and Melikset Pashayan were sentenced to 19 years.
