During a meeting with Iran’s newly appointed Ambassador Khalil Shirgholami, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, Eduard Hakobyan, announced that within the framework of ongoing reforms, Armenia plans to fully re-equip the border with Iran using new equipment over the next year.
The two sides discussed several key directions of cooperation aimed at facilitating cross-border trade between the two countries. They also addressed the feasibility of mutual recognition of Authorized Economic Operators and the steps necessary for implementing this program.
Hakobyan highlighted that as a result of the reforms already carried out, Armenia has seen significant improvements in the average daily throughput of cargo transport. He added that thanks to bilateral agreements, trade turnover between Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran has increased considerably.
