Karapetyan says it’s time for a leader who gives, not takes

Reacting to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s comment that he does not agree to lead the government for a symbolic salary of 1 dram, Mer Dzevov movement coordinator Narek Karapetyan stated that such a leader will be the next prime minister.

“Don’t worry, Pashinyan. Your salary won’t be 1 dram. I heard on Public TV that you declined to take that. But the next prime minister’s salary will be,” Karapetyan said, as reported by Aysor.am . “It’s time for a strong leader who gives to the country rather than takes and takes from it, along with his small circle.”

Pashinyan, during a televised interview, stated that he has not received bonuses for many years.

“If I were to serve as prime minister for one dram, and you asked me in an interview where my suit came from, what would I say?” he remarked.

When it was suggested that private donations could cover such expenses, Pashinyan responded, “That would be corruption.”
