Annual checkups will one day be mandatory: minister

Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan stated that beneficiaries of Armenia’s state-funded universal health insurance already have access to annual medical checkups. She emphasized that the Ministry of Health actively encourages participation and believes that “one day, it will become mandatory,” reports 1lurer.am .

“We are also working to make annual screenings more accessible. Soon, we’ll launch new tools on the ArMed platform, currently in testing, including an online questionnaire for annual checkups,” she said.

Individuals will complete the digital questionnaire, which will assess their disease risk levels and guide them toward more specific tests and medical consultations.

Armenia’s universal health insurance system launched on January 1, 2026. In the initial phase, it covers citizens earning 200,000 AMD or more, as well as all individuals under 18 and over 65, regardless of income. For these groups, the government will fully fund insurance in 2026.
