Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the issue of attitudes toward the state flag during a regular government session, urging compliance with established rules governing its handling.
He noted that amendments have already been made to the Code of Administrative Offenses, but emphasized the need to ensure proper conduct in practice as well, Auroranews.am reports.
“We take the flag, install it somewhere, and say we have done a good job, and then no one cares whether it wears out or tears. I have previously said that when I encountered attitudes toward the flag within the public administration system, I was surprised that my reaction surprised many. I saw a flag thrown on the ground in a government body and made very strict decisions regarding it, and it turned out that opinions about that decision were not so unequivocal. Now we have amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses concerning violations of the rules of conduct related to the state flag.
I propose that we introduce certain changes in our behavior. I ask that we familiarize ourselves with the text and notify the relevant protocol services so that participants are informed when organizing events and what is written does not simply remain on paper,” Pashinyan said.
