Karapetyan says eight-year PM seeks third term

Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the Mer Dzevov movement, said during the presentation of the Strong Armenia party that “the heart of a prime minister who has governed for eight years wants a third term.”

He urged the public to recall what the incumbent prime minister had done during his years in office, Panorama.am reports.

“In his first term, he lost 75 percent of Artsakh, dismantled and weakened the army, and seized the courts. When we gave him a second chance, he finally destroyed Artsakh, began enriching himself with his team, carried out repressions, built a few schools and beat the drum about it hundreds of times a day, drove agriculture into decline, turned human rights into a monopoly of Civil Contract, and started dismantling the church, dividing us all.

What have you not managed to do that you now want a third term? He says he will bring investments in a third term. If you could bring them, you would have done so already. For eight years you sold us nothing but hope. You do not know how to work and blame the neighbors. The neighbors are the same; it is you who are weak,” Karapetyan said.

He also stressed that people elect a leader with the expectation that the person will come and change their lives.

“But strangely, whoever comes wants a third term after the second. Our people are not your captives. We understood once, twice, as soon as you sit in that chair, you forget. These people are hungry, they never have enough, that is why they want a third term. It is time for our country to have a strong, serious, and satisfied leader,” he said.

Samvel Karapetyan is the PM candidate of the Strong Armenia party.

Narek Karapetyan stated: “Twenty days after the elections, we will come forward with a decision on appropriate legislative amendments to allow only a person holding solely Armenian citizenship to become prime minister of the Republic of Armenia. At that time, Samvel Karapetyan will hold only Armenian citizenship.”
