Lawmakers meet OSCE observers on upcoming vote

On February 12, representatives of various factions and standing committees of the National Assembly met with members of the Election Needs Assessment Mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR).

Head of the National Assembly’s Civil Contract faction Hayk Konjoryan and Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan discussed issues related to the upcoming electoral processes with the mission’s representatives, underscoring the importance of holding free, fair, transparent elections in line with international standards.

On the same day, members of the mission also met with Hayastan faction secretary Artsvik Minasyan and MPs Artur Khachatryan and Anna Grigoryan. The discussion addressed developments ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 2026, as well as issues concerning Armenia’s Electoral Code, prevention of administrative resource abuse, voter lists, and the involvement of women in political forces.

The mission’s representatives also met with Chair of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Vladimir Vardanyan and Deputy Chair Arusyak Julhakyan. The lawmakers answered the delegation’s questions, presenting their positions on electoral legislation and the organization of election processes.

The OSCE/ODIHR Election Needs Assessment Mission arrived in Armenia ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for June to assess the electoral environment and provide relevant recommendations.
