Bishop Mkrtich calls to pray for jailed clergy

Father Shnorh Paloyan met with Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, Primate of the Aragatsotn Diocese, who conveyed a message to the faithful, Sputnik Armenia reported.

On February 12, Bishop Mkrtich’s detention was changed to house arrest. However, he is prohibited from participating in liturgies and meeting with priests.

“I was in prison, and you were constantly in prayer. Continue to remain united in prayer. Pray for our imprisoned bishops and Armenian sons who are deprived of their freedom,” Bishop Mkrtich said.

Father Shnorh noted that one should never lose hope in prayer requests and stressed the importance of preserving unity.

The clergyman also announced that joint prayers will henceforth be held on Fridays instead of Thursdays, as many participants, particularly human rights defenders, are unable to attend on Thursdays due to workload.

The next joint prayer is scheduled for February 20 at the Surb Astvatsatsin Church in the village of Karmrashen, Aragatsotn Province.

The previous joint prayer was organized at the Surb Astvatsatsin Church in Aruch.
