Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he expects a decision in the near future to establish a joint trade platform with Azerbaijan in one of the demarcated border sections.
“There is a demarcated section, and why can it not become a crossing point from both sides? I hope that soon, together with Azerbaijan, in one of those demarcated sections, each on our own side, we will decide to create a joint market or trade platform and implement that decision. There is already a precedent: a land crossing took place in the demarcated section in accordance with the legislation of both countries, which is very positive,” Pashinyan said, according to Armenpress.
On February 13-14, a bilateral roundtable is being held in Armenia as part of the Bridge of Peace initiative, bringing together representatives of civil society from Armenia and Azerbaijan. In addition to the core participants of the initiative, a broader group from both sides will also take part in the discussion.
The Azerbaijani delegation arrived in Armenia through a demarcated and delineated section of the border, completing all required procedures. The move was described as an important practical step toward strengthening mutual trust between the two countries.
During the meetings, Armenian and Azerbaijani civil society representatives will discuss processes stemming from the peace agenda endorsed at the summit held in Washington on August 8, 2025. Separate sessions will focus on the emerging regional security architecture, the potential benefits of peace, public perceptions of establishing relations between the two societies, prospects for economic cooperation, as well as the significant role of civil society in deepening mutual understanding and trust.
