The Anti-Corruption Committee is conducting verification actions regarding real estate acquired by National Assembly Civil Contract faction leader Hayk Konjoryan in the Arinj settlement of the Abovyan community, Kotayk Province.
The Committee confirmed the information, according to Pastinfo.
The issue of Konjoryan allegedly purchasing property at a price significantly below market value was placed on the agenda only after a media publication.
Hetq reported that in July 2024, Konjoryan and his wife purchased a private house in Arinj, which was declared at a value of 54 million drams and financed through a mortgage loan, reportedly issued by Armeconombank. Based on prices announced by the same developer, the value of a similar property could amount to around 75.6 million drams, meaning the difference may reach approximately 21.6 million drams.
Media reports suggested that the declared value of the house may be linked to the threshold set under the current income tax refund mechanism, and that business ties exist between the parties to the transaction.
The same publication emphasized that the 54 million dram figure is not accidental, as under the existing mortgage income tax refund scheme, the contractual value threshold is set at 55 million drams in order to qualify for the tax benefit. It was also reported that Konjoryan purchased the house from Milon Mining LLC, owned by Babken Hovakimyan. The director of another company owned by Hovakimyan, Milon Realty LLC, is Avet Konjoryan, Hayk Konjoryan’s brother.
More than two months after the media report, no criminal proceedings have yet been initiated, while verification activities are ongoing at the Anti-Corruption Committee.
