Armenia sees new U.S. partnership momentum

Following U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance’s visit to Armenia, new opportunities for more structured cooperation have emerged, Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States Narek Mkrtchyan said at a roundtable in Washington.

On February 24, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Armenian Embassy in Washington, hosted a roundtable discussion within the framework of the “Armenia” program, attended by representatives of several American companies, the embassy reported.

The discussion highlighted prospects for advancing Armenian-American economic cooperation, the need to intensify business ties, and the importance of strengthening institutional foundations for collaboration.

In his remarks, Mkrtchyan emphasized that favorable conditions have been established in Armenia for the development of the technology sector.

At the conclusion of the roundtable, the sides reaffirmed their readiness to deepen long-term and sustainable economic partnership.

After meeting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that Armenia and the United States had concluded negotiations on a so-called 1-2-3 agreement in the field of civilian nuclear energy, opening broad opportunities for major projects. He noted that this implies initial exports from the United States of up to $5 billion, in addition to $4 billion in support through fuel and maintenance.
