Armenia to join EAEU IP data agreement

The Armenian government has approved the agreement of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) on establishing a search service for information on industrial property objects.

Following the government’s approval, the Armenian side will sign the document. The planned search platform will consolidate data on business intellectual property objects stored in the five member states of the union. The agreement concerns trademarks as well as geographical indications of origin of goods, Sputnik Armenia reports.

The main objective of the initiative is to provide businesses and state bodies with convenient and rapid tools for the protection of intellectual property rights.

The draft agreement was developed by the Eurasian Economic Commission, the executive body of the EAEU, in September last year.
