Armenia’s first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan said Samvel Karapetyan, chairman of the Strong Armenia party, is the only figure capable of uniting the fragmented opposition.
In a Facebook post, Ter-Petrosyan wrote that months of negotiations among opposition political forces have so far produced no results and failed to secure agreement.
“It is necessary, at last, to understand that uniting the opposition is not a political issue but simply a matter of national salvation. As a self-sufficient and accomplished individual, Karapetyan is capable of resolving that problem,” the post reads.
The next parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 7, 2026. Samvel Karapetyan’s Strong Armenia party has announced its intention to participate in the elections.
