RA MFA outlines evacuation priorities from UAE

Armenia’s Foreign Ministry has issued a statement addressed to Armenian citizens currently in the United Arab Emirates, noting that if a flight is organized, priority will be given to women, children, and the elderly.

The Armenian government is undertaking efforts, where possible, to arrange transportation to Armenia by air. Citizens wishing to return to Armenia voluntarily via Oman may complete the application form provided at the link below. The Armenian Embassy in the UAE will, to the extent possible, also assist with transfers from the UAE to Muscat for the flight.

Later, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan stated that a needs assessment is currently underway.

“Regarding the previously issued statement by the Foreign Ministry, a needs assessment is currently being conducted. Citizens who have expressed interest are asked at this stage to complete the application form. If information about a specific flight is confirmed, registered citizens will be contacted.

During this period, developments in the security situation, as well as airlines’ ability to provide alternative return options, will be taken into account.

As previously informed, in the event this flight is organized, priority will be given to women, children, the elderly, and individuals with health problems,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.

On the morning of February 28, Israel and the U.S. carried out strikes on Tehran and other areas of Iran. U.S. President Donald Trump announced his intention to destroy Iran’s nuclear program. As a result of Israeli strikes, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed.

Trump said that after the U.S. operation, Iran’s leadership wants to negotiate with Washington, to which he agreed. However, Larijani later stated that Iran does not intend to negotiate with the United States.
