MMA fighter and wrestler Arman Tsarukyan has explained why he struck his opponent at the RAF 06 freestyle wrestling tournament held in Tempe, Arizona. Russian promoter Kamil Gadzhiev recounted his comments, Sport24 reports.
Immediately after the final signal in his bout against American wrestler and blogger Giorgio Poulas, Tsarukyan hit his opponent, who was already on the ground, triggering a mass brawl.
“He fought dirty throughout the entire bout, constantly grabbing and bending my fingers. I was boiling with anger and thought that once the fight ended, I would respond to him. The match ended, and I struck him. After that, tensions flared,” Tsarukyan said.
In January, Tsarukyan secured another victory, this time at the Real American Freestyle 5 tournament in a freestyle wrestling bout. His opponent was former PFL fighter Lance Palmer of the United States. The Armenian athlete won convincingly with a 10–0 score.
