Decision on Karapetyan’s house arrest appeal due March 5

The decision on the appeal against the house arrest of Strong Armenia party leader Samvel Karapetyan will be announced on March 5, his lawyer Aram Vardevanyan said in a Facebook post.

“The absurdity and fears behind the political persecution of Samvel Karapetyan have now lasted for about nine months. Additional information regarding the ‘case’ will be presented soon. At this point, the decision on the appellate complaint we filed on February 8, 2026, against the house arrest ruling will be published on March 5, 2026. The intensive restriction of the freedom of Strong Armenia party chairman Samvel Karapetyan has lasted 258 days, without any grounds, without any evidence, for publicly defending our Mother See…

The rule of law must prevail. Freedom for all political prisoners…” the post reads.

Samvel Karapetyan has been named the prime ministerial candidate of the Strong Armenia party. The announcement was made by Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the Mer Dzevov movement, during the party’s official presentation at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex.
