The first flight from Dubai to Yerevan after the closure of airspace in parts of the Middle East arrived in the Armenian capital early on March 5, Factor.am reported.
According to the online schedule of Zvartnots International Airport, the Flydubai aircraft landed about two hours later than scheduled. The flight lasted around six hours, whereas previously the Dubai–Yerevan route usually took about three hours.
The delay occurred because the aircraft had to bypass closed airspaces in several Middle Eastern countries, significantly increasing the duration of the flight.
According to the international flight tracking service Flightradar24, the route passed through the airspace of Oman, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
Another Flydubai Dubai–Yerevan flight was scheduled to arrive at 10:25, but it is also expected to land with a delay. According to Zvartnots Airport’s online timetable, its estimated arrival time is 13:46.
Another Dubai–Yerevan flight operated by Emirates will also arrive with a delay.
On February 28, military hostilities between Iran, Israel and the U.S. led to full or partial closures of airspace across parts of the Middle East. Because of the situation, airlines canceled thousands of regular flights, including several routes from Dubai to Yerevan.
