Lay members of the Supreme Spiritual Council have been summoned to the Investigative Committee, council member Gevorg Danielyan said, Aysor.am reported.
According to him, the meeting scheduled for March 12 of the Supreme Spiritual Council did not take place as a result.
“Their goal was to disrupt the meeting of the Supreme Spiritual Council, and they succeeded — all lay members were summoned to the Investigative Committee, and the meeting did not take place,” Danielyan said.
He also noted that a statement is being prepared.
On March 10, a session of the Supreme Spiritual Council began at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin under the chairmanship of the Catholicos of All Armenians.
The agenda of the council included issues related to convening the National Ecclesiastical Assembly, as well as matters concerning the Church’s pastoral, educational, canonical, administrative, disciplinary and social mission. Questions affecting church life were also discussed.
