Government approves billions in performance bonuses

The government will distribute another 4.6 billion drams in bonuses to state bodies. The corresponding decision was approved during a cabinet meeting, RFE/RL reported.

The allocated funds relate to the second half of 2025. Officially, the decision is titled “Evaluation of the performance of certain bodies of the state administration system and incentives based on that evaluation.”

During the meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan described the distribution of billions of drams in bonuses as a decision that fits within the agenda of ensuring the sustainability of the state.

“This system delivers results for the citizens of Armenia,” Pashinyan said, adding that it is also part of the country’s anti-corruption policy.

“I want to remind you that after the 2018 Velvet Revolution we recorded a significant improvement in corruption perception indices. But at a certain point — including today — there has been some stagnation, and I believe we must tighten anti-corruption standards in our country and set higher benchmarks,” Pashinyan said, according to Panorama.am.

He argued that the decision follows that logic and that the state needs officials who are fully focused on their work.

Pashinyan also linked additional remuneration in the public sector to the broader goal of ensuring peace.

The previous large-scale distribution of bonuses in state bodies took place three months ago, when members of the National Assembly received bonuses of about 3 million drams each.
