Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia in 405 stood at the same crossroads as it does in 2026, in a video posted on his Facebook page.
Referring to the Armenian alphabet created by Mesrop Mashtots and the first translation into Armenian, the prime minister said he has often reflected on why Mashtots chose to translate first the opening sentence of the Book of Proverbs from the Bible.
“To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, to grasp the complexities of speech…”
Pashinyan noted that there is no scientific explanation as to why Mesrop Mashtots began precisely with that sentence.
“I have come to the conclusion that in 405 Armenia stood at the same crossroads as it does in 2026. And our task is that, standing at that crossroads, we continue our path in such a way that later the phrase “I weep for you, Armenian land” will not be written,” the prime minister said.
