Three supporters of businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan were detained outside Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court on March 13 while judges were considering extending the preventive measure imposed on him, Auroranews.am reports.
It later became known that they were detained for failing to comply with an order issued by a police officer.
The Interior Ministry’s police said the three individuals were arrested for committing an act предусмотренный Article 182 of the Code of Administrative Offenses and taken to a territorial division of the Interior Ministry’s police.
A large number of police forces had been deployed near the courthouse.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Court has completed consideration of the preventive measure applied to businessman Samvel Karapetyan, extending his house arrest for another month. His lawyer Aram Vardevanyan informed journalists about the decision in the courtyard.
Karapetyan was arrested on June 18, 2025, and the term of his detention was later extended several times by court rulings. On December 30, the court granted a motion submitted by the defense, replacing detention with house arrest and bail.
Karapetyan has been charged with publicly calling for the seizure of power and the overthrow of the constitutional order. On October 13, the Investigative Committee said the charges against Samvel Karapetyan had been amended and supplemented under points 2 and 3 of part 3 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code, concerning money laundering on an especially large scale through the use of official or service powers or influence derived from them. Karapetyan does not admit the charges brought against him.
